Glimpses from the workshop, participant feedback, and a brief report of the programme.
“The workshop was highly relevant and well-organized. The most valuable topics were AI in print quality prediction, automated colour correction, and predictive maintenance. Practical demos with live case studies from packaging and newspaper printing made complex concepts accessible. My expectations were fully met. I particularly appreciated the interactive Q&A sessions discussing real-world implementation hurdles.”
“Informative and well-stuctured sessions meeting most of my professional expectations.”
The 4-day online workshop on “Applications of AI in the Printing Industry (AAIPI)” was conducted on 11 April 2026, 12 April 2026, 18 April 2026, and 19 April 2026 via Microsoft Teams. The programme introduced participants to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, along with their practical relevance in print production workflows. Key sessions covered AI in digital printing, imaging, predictive maintenance, information management, print workflow, and print quality control. The workshop brought together academic experts and industry professionals, and the interactive sessions enabled participants to explore how AI-driven tools can support automation, decision-making, and process optimisation in the printing industry. More details.
Selected news articles covering the AAIPI workshop.
This workshop offers a structured, practice-oriented introduction to the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the printing industry. Over the course of the programme, participants will develop a foundational understanding of AI concepts, machine learning techniques, and image processing methods, and explore their relevance across print production workflows. The programme covers key application areas such as prepress automation, digital printing and imaging, predictive maintenance, intelligent workflow management, and AI-driven color management. Participants will also gain hands-on exposure to practical AI tools for tasks such as defect detection, process optimization, and data-driven quality control. Through a balanced combination of lectures, demonstrations, and interactive sessions, the programme equips industry professionals, faculty, researchers, and students with the knowledge and practical skills required to integrate AI solutions into modern printing processes and research environments.
